LEADER Programme -
Rural Development
|
The LEADER Programme provides funding to support community-led rural development. The National Rural Network (NRN) explores how the LEADER funding process works in practice, providing an overview of the main stages and requirements when making an application.

- rural tourism
- enterprise development
- broadband
- basic services targeted at hard-to-reach communities
- rural youth
- protection and sustainable use of water resources

Consultation -
Reform Disability Payments
|
Carlow PPN are inviting submissions from individuals and stakeholder organisations, particularly people with disabilities, Disabled Persons’ Organisations and Disabled Persons’ Representative Organisations, to share their views with us on the consultation of the Reformation of Disability Payments in Ireland.
Carlow PPN will join the Dept. of Social Protection in a hybrid meeting from Dublin Castle.
The consultation will take place at 10.30am and finish at 3.30pm on November 9th, 2023.

Closure of Road - Hacketstown
|
Carlow PPN held a Zoom Consultation, Tuesday 24th October on the closure of a section of Hacketstown Road, from 17th November 2023 - 29th March 2024. We gathered input from the community in Hacketstown/Tullow area for a submission on this issue.

The LAWPRO Community Water Development Fund 2024

Local communities or voluntary groups can now apply for a Community Water Development Fund (CWDF) grant to deliver a project in 2024. This Fund helps local communities deliver projects and initiatives that enhance your local water environment, delivering multiple benefits for water quality, biodiversity and climate action.

Social Justice Ireland:
Annual Policy Conference 2023
|
Join Social Justice Ireland for their 2023 Annual Social Policy Conference, to hear from experts on what a Just Transition should look like for Ireland. One of the fundamental principles of a Just Transition is to leave no people, communities, economic sectors or regions behind as we transition to a low carbon future.
It means changing how we travel, communicate, work and entertain and what we eat, wear and consume, to ensure that we share both the benefits and challenges of our new way of living.
This conference will hear from a variety of speakers whose contributions to the ongoing debate on what a Just Transition should look like.

|
Creative Places Bagenalstown is a programme funded by the Arts Council of Ireland and delivered through Carlow Arts Office. The programme brings a range of activities to Bagenalstown and surrounding areas. From visual arts to live music, pop up cinemas to archival projects, Creative Places Bagenalstown has something for everyone! Keep up to date on up coming events on www.creativeplacesbagenalstown.ie

Minister Joe O’Brien invites applications to the 2023 Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund call for proposals. €10m will be made available to organisations nationwide to provide reception and integration supports to Third Country Nationals. Minimum grant amount of €300,000, over 4 years, to support a number of significant projects throughout Ireland. Closing date: 30th November 2023 Full details

Brigid Fox - C&V
Carlow Heritage Forum
|
Brigid Fox has lived in Myshall for the past forty years and is a native of historic St. Mullins. Always active in community affairs, she is a member of Myshall Muintir Na Tíre and Myshall Social History Group and has been involved in developing local tree and heritage trails. She has worked on the erection of nine story boards in Co. Carlow for The Columban Way in collaboration with Carlow Co. Council and Carlow Tourism
Brigid has voluntarily researched, documented and published cemetery books, one on the Adelaide Memorial Church, Myshall, and publications on 1798 and 1916 as well as being involved with an annual parish magazine since 1993.
With a love for Co. Carlow, and with certificates in both Community Development and Local History from NUIM, combined with a background in teaching and learning, Brigid was nominated onto the Carlow Heritage Forum in June 2022 through Carlow PPN.
Recently, The Heritage Council announced Brigid as 2023 Heritage Hero at the annual National Heritage Week awards ceremony. Brigid is well known to so many of you and represents her community as a Carlow PPN Representative on the Carlow Heritage Forum. Massive congratulations to Brigid on winning such a prestigious national award!
The next meeting of Carlow Heritage Forum is taking place on Wed Nov 8th.
If you want a heritage issue/idea discussed at this meeting, then email Brigid at bfheritage2023@gmail.com.
(She is particularly interested in hearing about upcoming heritage projects in the county so she can inform the members of the Forum).

Local Authorities and other local bodies have a range of Committees and Boards to support them to develop policy by involving external expertise. This expertise can be drawn from sectoral interests such as employers, farmers, trades unions and the community.
Community representation – that of the Community and Voluntary, Social Inclusion and Environmental sectors - is a core function of the PPN.
Reporting back to PPN groups is a mandatory requirement of PPN Representatives.
A report is required from every meeting attended by the Representative in their capacity as a PPN Representative.

Hybrid Social Finance Loan
2023 – 2024
|
The Hybrid Social Finance Loan is a partnership between Rethink Ireland, Community Finance Ireland and the Department of Rural and Community Development. It aims to build the capacity of social enterprises that are first-time borrowers. This initiative will provide a mix of a loan that must be paid back, along with a non-repayable loan and business support for up to 20 social enterprises.

Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2023
|
The Town and Village Scheme is one of a series of national and local support measures designed to rejuvenate small rural towns and villages throughout Ireland. This Scheme is targeted at towns and villages with a population of 10,000 or less and all projects funded under the Scheme must be completed within a 12 to 18 month period.
