Community Invitation

  • Ru:Rban - Dissemination & Community Engagement Event funded by Urbact

Carlow County Council, the URBACT Local Group and Carlow PPN are delighted to invite Carlow community to the launch of the ‘A Guide for Design & Implementation of Community Gardens & Allotments for County Carlow’ and a presentation of the project outputs. To be held in the new Carlow Exchange 5pm - 7.30pm, 27th October 2022. 

Following the launch, Community Garden expert, Dee Sewell will facilitate a community design challenge where community groups will have 2 hours to design their own community garden. The 3 winning groups will be provided with €1,500 worth of prizes to support their community development journey provided by Carlow County Council. 

Local producers will provide a community meal in the newly opened Carlow Exchange!

This is an exciting opportunity to engage in creativity in the community and we look forward to seeing you there.

Heritage Ireland 2030 Summit 

  • Heritage Ireland 2030 Summit, Trinity College Dublin/Online- Monday 24th October 2022

The first Heritage Ireland 2030 Summit will bring together those interested in and who enjoy heritage and those involved in its management and custodianship to showcase successful projects, explore challenges and opportunities and outline progress in delivering the objectives of Ireland’s new national heritage plan. The event, being held in Trinity College Dublin, will be streamed online for those unable to make it in person and to increase participation. There will be a representation of Carlow projects at this national event.

Our Energy Future - Protecting Biodiversity & Environment

  • Invite: In-person workshop - Friends of the Earth - Wed 26th October

How Ireland can better protect biodiversity and the environment while delivering necessary infrastructure to meet climate and renewable targets.

Friends of the Earth are inviting you to an in-person workshop on Protecting Biodiversity & Environment on Wed 26th October, 10am - 4.30pm, in Dublin (Fumbally Stables, Fumbally Lane, The Liberties, D08 CP27) (just off Clanbrassil Street).

This workshop is part of the ‘Our Energy Future’ project and will be facilitated by Harriet Emerson. The purpose of the meeting is to provide participants with the opportunity to highlight concerns regarding biodiversity protection in the context of renewables expansion, as well as to map these issues and learn what changes are necessary at Government level.

Friends of the Earth will provide tea/coffee on arrival and provide sandwiches at lunchtime.

  • Upcoming Workshops at Visual

The Visual Carlow are pleased to bring you the following workshops and classes that will be running throughout their current Gallery Season:

  • Life Drawing Classes: Inspired by Elizabeth Cope’s exhibition, Saidhbhín will guide you through drawing the human form using various materials while standing at the easel. Though some drawing media will be provided, please bring along any material you enjoy working with. This event is geared towards artists.
  • Anthotype Workshop: Photography with Plants, with Kasia Kaminska - Participants will be given a brief introduction to the anthotype process and its history and will be guided step-by-step through the making of a print - from gathering materials mindfully to preparing them for printing. Participants will take their prints home to expose their own handmade anthotype.
